Oh what a Fabulous Weekend!

VH1's Save The Music auction...Goapele and Lyfe Jennings - I love Goapele, she's stunning!
Ciara and Erika (?) - Ciara looks great these days!

Art for Life Benefit...
The Simmons Family are hosts for the night and little Aoki Lee Simmons gives Star Jones a 'suspect' glance
Julissa of BET and Aubrey from MTV's 'Making the Band' and her boyfriend
Julissa, Debra Lee and guest
Aaron Reid and his wife Erika leave the party

New York was the place to be over the weekend as two star studded events took place! The first was the 'Flaunt Your Flirt' auction which benefits VH1's Save the Music fund, held in the Hamptons. Celebrities spotted there included Ciara, Russell Simmons, Lyfe Jennings, Gayle King, Nicolette Sheriden and Goapele... The second event was the Art for Life dinner, hosted by soon to be divorced (?) couple Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons at their estate. The Art for Life - Seventh Heaven benefit supports the 'creative expression of NYC youth.' Star Jones, Tichina Arnold, Debra Lee, Julissa (from BET) and Gayle King were all in attendance... I miss New York!

What Say We?... Yay or Nay?!

NAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!! I can't believe Rihanna chose to wear this get-up during her performance at the World Series of Poker party at the Rio. She should be shot at dawn and wearing spandex should be made a Federal Offense! Incidently speaking, the Fashion Police rushed Rihanna after she got off stage and charged her with 'possession of too much money and no sense!' Her court date is still pending...

Christina Milian

Christina Milian arriving at the launch of the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 in Hollywood last monthThrough all her recent woes, Christina Milian still manages to look fabulous! First there was her public break-up with Nick Cannon, then her album tanked, resulting in her being dropped from her record label, Island Def Jam Records... :( Things seem to be looking up though as Christina stars in the new movie Pulse and she also makes an appearance in Jessica Simpson's latest video Public Affair. To copy her style, scroll upwards!

Steal Christina's Style...

Top: Striped Cashmere Sleeve Cardigan, $245.00, available at www.shopintuition.com
Capri's: Ultra Low Rise Strecth Capri's, $295.0, Old Navy
Shoes: Zeeba, $39.99, Bandolino

I couldn't find a red and white striped sweater, but i'm sure if you look around you can find one since stripes are so in right now! Team with these black capri jeans and these cute open toe sandals for a quirky day look!

Best of the Rest...

Left to Right: Neston, $16.99, www.gojane.com; LS Sweater Top, $19.80, Forever 21; Clara V Neck Tunic, $59.00, Guess

Okay, okay! I've been getting emails about the sweater I suggested below in the 'Steal Christina's Style' post... Here are some more budget friendly sweaters in a similiar style. I know not all the things I post are 'cheap,' but I post certain clothes to inspire as well as those I think you might actually consider buying... ;)

Sweetface...

Jlo working it for the 'Sweetface' Campaign

I have to give Jennifer her props, I actually like both of her fashion lines. She started JLO by Jennifer Lopez in 2001... her vision was to create a street/sportswear line that's both affordable for the average fashionista and unique. I think she's achieved that, her clothes are cute and original, whilst being reasonably priced.... every girls dream! Jennifer later joined forces with fashion mogul Andy Hilfiger and they co-founded the Sweetface line which is a much more high-fashion label. I love the Sweetface clothes too! Did any of you watch the MTV special she did a couple of years ago? That fashion show was off the chain! To see her latest collections and to shop online visit www.sweetface.com and www.shopjlo.com

Tee Time!

Left to Right: Metallic Cityscapes Top, $15.80, Forever 21; Concetta Tee, $12.99, available at www.gojane.com; Faded Graphic Tee, $15.80, Forever 21; Foll Graphic Pocket, $14.50, Old Navy
Left to Right: Baby Stripe Shirt with Keyhole and Piping, $39.00, Rampage; Lartel, $19.99, available at www.gojane.com; Ebony Enchantress Tee by Jr. Ringer T-Shirt, 18.99, www.mahoganybutterfly.com; Banded Screen Top, $14.99, Charlotte Russe

I have close to 25 tees in my closet, along with jeans, they're my closet staples! I bought two more yesterday, but they were selling at '2 for 1' so that's okay, right? I'm travelling to St. Lucia next week so I rationalized the purchase! Above are my favorite tees out right now - I tried to find some specially made with Afro/Carribean logos and themes, but came up short... let me know of any sites that do that sort of thing. Gracias! :)

Style Flashback: Tina Turner

We most definitely have to give props to one of the best female performers EVER! This pic says it all... Tina Turner knows how to command a stage and get attention. I used to especially love watching her stage costumes swishing around as she perfomed 'Proud Mary'! Ms. Turner will be sixty-seven in November of this year and she still looks AMAZING... and dare I forget to mention those legs!.. DO IT TINA!!

Credit: This photograph was taken by famed photographer Richard Avedon in June 1971 for The New Yorker magazine.

Style on the Go...

Ashanti backstage and on TRL - She looks adorable, can't you just picture her saying 'BANANAS' in that pic on the right?!
Cassie, also backstage and on TRL - Love the red shoes and top... too cute!

Yesterday afternoon both Ashanti and Cassie graced TRL with their presence. Ashanti was there to promote her latest movie 'John Tucker Must Die' and Cassie peformed her hit single 'Me & You.' Both can't sing worth a damn in my opnion, but at least they always look cute!

Note: Look at Cassie's shoes, didn't I say red shoes were in! ;)

The Glitterati Crew!

Eve arriving at the Vanity Fair Oscar party earlier this year

I used to run from sequins like a vampire runs from garlic, but lately i've been coming around to sparkly items, namely dresses and bags, both of which can attract admiring stares at any venue. Just look at the ladies above, all of whom seem happy to soak up the attention their sparkly outfit's are garnering.... see the next post for some show-stopping pieces of your own!

Shine On...

I found this great site called www.my-wardrobe.com. Now don't be put off by the prices shown here, they have items as low as $20! Another good thing about the site is that the prices come in dollars, U.K sterling and the Euro, so you can convert any price into your local currency. My favorite piece is the silver sequined cami top (picture above) which is on sale for only $61... I'm about ready to shine!

Style Spotlight: Sarah Jessica Parker

How can this woman not be anyone's style icon? I love, love, love this dress... this is the definition of Prim ‘n’ Proper (see previous post!). I wish Sex and the City could have lasted forever, but all good things must come to and end :( At least we can continue to see Sarah's stylish outfits on the red carpet, like here when she attended a press conference to promote the DVD release of the final season of "Sex and the City" in Tokyo, Japan. I've promised myself when I start earning some real money, i'll buy myself the ultimate cocktail dress... until then dresses from Forever 21 will have to suffice!

Out of Africa...

Left to Right: Strapless Dress, Item: FP-CVHOD5-4909 by Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, $295, available at www.thefashionpulse.com; From a selection at Alex Boutique available at www.alexboutiquedc.com
Left to Right: Mogause, Aldo; Lalo1, $149.95, Steve Madden; Zebra Print Ballet Pump, approximately $30 available at www.asos.com; From a selection by Pierre Hardy
Left to Right: Leopard-Print Shoulder Bag, $1,790.00, Valentino; From a selection by Stella McCartney; Framed up animal print frame, $49.99 (On Sale!), Nine West; Bracelet by Kenneth Jay Lane, $165.00 available at www.bloomingdales.com

Designers have been looking toward Africa for inspiration for quite some time now, whilst I myself have always been exposed to the beauty of African design and fabrics (being born in East Africa helped!) Since the fashion world is loving all things print right now, it's hard not to find African influences in many of your local store's clothes. If wearing print is not your thing, add a little culture in your life with an accessory or shoe instead. Above are some of my favorites - Enjoy!

Style on the Go...

LeToya Luckett at her album signing yesterday in New York.
Mya spotted at the Miami Vice Screening & Reception in South Beach looking S.T.U.N.N.I.N.G!

LeToya's debut, self-titled album dropped yesterday and to celebrate she had an in-store signing at J&R Music and Computer World in New York.... I'm happy things are working out well for her after all the drama that was Destiny's Child! Mya is also making moves to release her fourth album 'Liberation' and her first single 'Ayo' is now playing on the radio. Wonder what rock she's been hiding under these last 3 years? Both look amazing in the pics above, hope their respective albums sell truck loads and then some!!

Chill Zone...

Jessica Alba looking a little too relaxed on her day off!
Gabrielle Union dresses for comfort on her way to meet a friend for lunch Ciara still knows how to glam-it-up on the weekend, shown here leaving her hotel in New York

It's okay to dress down on the weekends, but that doesn't mean you have to walk around looking like death warmed up 'n' mobile! I got caught out once whan a 'friend' made an unannounced appearance at my door one lazy Sunday afternoon and you guessed it, I was looking less than my fabulous self ! :( Save yourself the embarrassing moments and pick a style that's comfortable yet stylish... Scroll up for ideas!

Something for the Weekend...

Bag: Mustard Ribbon Bow Tote Bag, $129.99 available at www.lushfashions.com; Top: Jelly Tot Shirt, $59.99, French Connection; Skirt: Cargo Denim Mini, $49.00, Rampage; Sandals: Style: EC1013477 by Naughty Monkey, $55.99 available at www.shoes.com; Belt: Cut-Out Belt, Levi's; Bangle: Resin Bangle, $7.50, Old Navy

The first look is for those of you who like to invest in classic seperates that can be used with other items in your closet.... I'm especially lovin' the yellow tote bag which is on sale! The second look is for the girlie girls amongst us who love to look fresh 'n' pretty on their days off. The final look is for those who like a bit more of an eclectic look that's not so 'matchy matchy'. I have a pair of these capri's and they're super comfy! You could actually mix and match a few of these outfits to create an entirely new look altogether, either way you have no excuse to look slouchy this weekend coming... ;)

New Pics of Danielle from ANTM....

I always wonder whether these America's Next Top Model (ANTM) winners actually go on to have 'successful' careers and by successful I don't just mean appearing in an endless stream of ridiculous reality shows on VH1! Danielle (pictured) is the latest winner and I truly believe she has potential the to have a credible modelling career, I just hope she makes wise career decisions. Shout-outs to 'Eva the Diva' who is also doing her thing! In related news, it seems the writers of ANTM are on strike because they want more benefits.... 'writers'?!! I thought it was reality?!!

Running on Diesel...

The 2006 Spring/Summer collection of bags from Diesel are amazing... very weekend chic! They have no less than eight style selections, and though I love them all my favorites are the 'Soft Baroque' and 'Bangcock' range. See the bags for yourselves @ www.diesel.com, all are available at Diesel stores nationwide or wherever Diesel concessions are sold.

Most Stylish Celebrity Couple?

Hi Guys!
Just letting you know about the poll I added on the left side-bar. If you're not familiar with any of the celeb couples listed, do a quick google search! ;) Results will be posted in 2 weeks...
By the way, the pic on the right is of Jennifer Freeman & Brian White, but they're not together anymore :(

Thanks, Angel xx

Pick 'n' Mix

I thought i'd start spotlighting some of my favorite designers, the first being Celine. This picture was taken from their Spring 2006 Ready-to-Wear collection, designed by a then unknown, Croatian by the name Ivana Omazic. She joined Celine as a replacement for Michael Kors' successor who made a quick exit from the company after only one year! After such a reshuffle many were unsure what Omazic would do for the label. Her debut collection (pictured) received mixed reviews however, I loved the mixture of different fabrics she used for each outfit. The combination of tan leather and luxurious materials appealed to my sense of style, and while it's not a revolutionary concept I think certain pieces showed potential.
The label has typically followed the 'high-end sporty look' which basically means many gorgeous seperates that can be put together an infinite amount of times to create many looks. The accessories are also to-die-for (as you can see from this bag!) Celebrity fans include Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Lucy Liu. To see more of their pieces visit www.celine-boutique.com & www.celine.com

Brandy looking Fab-O!

I'm so happy to see Brandy back on the scene, and looking mighty fabulous I might add! She's a judge on the NBC show "America's Got Talent", so here she is attending the 2006 Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour. I was worried for a minute, because those wigs she was sporting were hella scary! Glad to see her trying a more 'au natural' hairstyle. She needs to hurry up and get back into the studio... she never fails us there!!

White Hot!

Kelly Rowalnd backstage at the Badgley Mischka Fall 2006 fashion show in New York
Tracee Ellis Ross at Jaguar's Tribute to Style on Rodeo Drive
Jessica Alba backstage at the MTV Networks 2006 Upfront for 'Feed The Need'
Janet Jackson arriving at her birthday party at Shereen Arazms Shag last month - I think she's taking it too far with these pants, she has enough space in there to smuggle Mexican children across the border!

It's seems like everyone and their mama is wearing white trousers or maybe it's just the summer heat?! I myself own three pairs, two of which are exactly the same (I loved them so much I had to buy two!) I think i'll be rocking my white linen pair for a wedding at the end of the month, my only task is finding what to wear on top. Maybe i'll make like Kelly (above) and try a deep chocolate brown color as opposed to wearing white from head to toe... Either way, you can't fail to look sophisticated in a pair of long white pants!

My Picks!!

Left to Right: Margo, $39.99 (On Sale!), Ann Taylor; Wide Leg One Pleat Pant by Alice & Olivia, $ 148.50, available at www.shopbop.com; C&C California Seaside Pant, $88.00, available www.shopbop.com
Left to Right: White Trousers, $253.00 by Yaya available at www.revolveclothing.com; Emma Seersucker Trouser in Stripe, $187.00, 7 For All Mankind; White Trousers with Bow, $242.00 by Yaya by www.revolveclothing.com

Please ladies, make sure your pants are long enough to cover at least half or your shoe's heels - pants that swing at your ankles are not cute! It can be annoying wearing long white trousers, because they get dirty so easily, but I just wash them straight after I wear them. Also try Guess and the online store www.bluefly.com, both have some nice and more affordable white linen trousers!
