When getting dressed for that big night out with the girls or a first date with the guy you’ve had your eye on for weeks, few of us actually think about the sacrifices made to produce that outfit on our backs. Fashion Fights Poverty (FFP) is an organization dedicated to raising awareness about the poverty-stricken countries whose citizens are used for cheap labor and the animals killed to provide skin for clothing. FFP encourages all, but especially us fashionistas, to “dress responsibly.” The organization is holding a big fashion show at the end of this month, featuring clothes by designers who are conscious of the affect their line has on the global environment. If you live in the D.C. area really consider coming out to the show… I’ll be there and so will many celebrities! Visit www.fashionfightspoverty.org for ticket info.
When: Friday, October 27th
Time: 6 p.m. until late
Where: Carnegie Library (formerly the City Museum), 801 K Street, NW, Washington, D.C.
